What is OSINT Industries and what does it do?
OSINT Industries is an investigation platform whose plans are priced in GBP. In its own words, read on 10 October 2026:
- What it does: "Search an email, phone number, username, name or crypto wallet - see all your subject's data in one place." The paid plans add IP, domain name and image searches, and crypto wallet searches cover ETH, BTC and TRC OSINT Industries homepage (checked 10 Oct 2026) OSINT Industries pricing (checked 10 Oct 2026).
- Coverage and accuracy claims: "Access intelligence from 1500+ sources worldwide", "100% accurate real-time data retrieval" and "Zero False Positives". It says it "flags data breached from active accounts (via haveibeenpwned.com)" and that "we never store search results" OSINT Industries homepage (checked 10 Oct 2026). These are vendor claims that we have not tested.
- Who uses it: it says it "supports over 5000 law enforcement departments worldwide" and lists government, journalism, non-profits, private investigators, insurance and fraud, cyber security, legal and AML among its sectors OSINT Industries homepage (checked 10 Oct 2026).
- Ethics policy: "We will not facilitate unlawful surveillance, targeting, or intelligence collection" OSINT Industries ethics and compliance (checked 10 Oct 2026).

Is OSINT Industries free? Pricing in October 2026

It doesn't say how many credits a search uses. The page also shows annual figures in US dollars next to placeholder text, so we have left those out. The journalist access page asks you to "Provide your details" and get verified, but doesn't list eligibility criteria OSINT Industries free access for journalists (checked 10 Oct 2026).
What is the best free alternative to OSINT Industries?
- Apply for OSINT Industries' own free access if you're a journalist, NGO or public body. It offers free platform access to journalists, NGOs and law enforcement "where it serves the public interest" OSINT Industries ethics and compliance (checked 10 Oct 2026).
- Predicta Search covers the same core inputs (email, phone, username, full name) and claims "1010+" live sources. The free plan has unlimited searches and 3 detailed reports a month, and its FAQ says free email and phone searches don't need a login Predicta Search pricing (checked 10 Oct 2026) Predicta Search homepage and FAQ (checked 10 Oct 2026).
- Epieos has a free plan (€0.00/month) covering Google, Email Checker and Skype. Its Osinter plan (€29.99/month, 30 full-access requests) adds every module, including LinkedIn, Strava, GitHub, Have I Been Pwned and others Epieos pricing (checked 10 Oct 2026). See our Epieos alternatives page.
- Holehe (email, 120+ sites) and GHunt (the Google account behind an email) are free, open-source command-line tools Holehe README (checked 10 Oct 2026) GHunt README (checked 10 Oct 2026).
- Maigret checks usernames on 3,000+ sites and writes reports, with "No API keys required" Maigret README (checked 10 Oct 2026).

- Names: Max Intel's People Search covers 67 mostly US sources, including court records.
There is no free equivalent of the crypto wallet search on the sites we checked. Max Intel's crypto tools link to public block explorers instead.
What do Max Intel's free tools do, and not do?
OSINT Industries searches many kinds of selector at once. On Max Intel, the Pivot Hub does the fan-out, and each tool links to the services that hold the data. Max Intel's identity tools are launchers, not a search engine of their own. You type a selector once, and the page builds pre-filled links to the third-party services that hold the data, in your browser, with no account. You then open the links one by one or with Open All and read each result yourself. That is the concrete difference from Intelbase, OSINT Industries, Epieos and Predicta Search, which run the checks on their servers and hand back one combined result.
| Max Intel tool | What it does | What it does not do |
|---|---|---|
| Email Lookup | 30+ pre-filled links: reverse-email services (Epieos among them), breach checks (Have I Been Pwned, Intelligence X, BreachDirectory and others), account discovery (Predicta Search, OSINT Industries, a Holehe pointer), Proton and PGP key lookups, Gravatar (the hash is computed in your browser), search-engine and paste dorks. | It does not test whether the address is registered anywhere, show breach records itself, or produce a report. Some linked services need an account or manual entry; the page marks those. |
| Username Search | Direct profile links on 65 social, gaming, forum and developer sites, plus WhatsMyName and pointers to Sherlock and Maigret. | A direct link opens whether or not the account exists, so you check each one. It does not parse profiles. |
| Phone Lookup | 20+ reverse-lookup, carrier, validation and spam-report services. | Strongest for US and Canadian numbers. Several services need you to paste the number in. |
| People Search | A name across 67 sources: people-finders, social search, court and other public records. | Mostly US sources. Not for employment, tenant, credit or insurance screening (see the legal section). |
| Social Media OSINT | Profile, search and archive links for X, Bluesky, Instagram, Facebook, Reddit, TikTok, Telegram and more. | No account monitoring or alerts. |
| Pivot Hub | Detects an email, username, phone, domain, IP or name and opens every relevant Max Intel tool with the value pre-filled, plus cross-pivots (the part of an email before the @ as a username, the domain after it). | It only builds links. The page says nothing you type leaves your browser. |
Where Max Intel is the better fit, and why (checkable): it is free with no plan limits, needs no signup, and works from any browser without installing Python. It also covers source types beyond account checks, such as people-finders, court records and search-engine dorks. Where it is weaker: it is slower, because you open and read each source yourself, and it can't run the registration checks or breach-record searches that the paid platforms run for you.
When is OSINT Industries worth paying for?
Be fair to the paid tool. By its own description, OSINT Industries does things the free stack cannot:
- Breadth in one search. Seven selector types, including names, crypto wallets, IPs, domains and images, from one account. Its claim is "1500+ sources" OSINT Industries homepage (checked 10 Oct 2026) OSINT Industries pricing (checked 10 Oct 2026). Replicating that for free means a dozen tools and tabs.
- Case management. Cloud cases and storage on every paid plan, plus an API from Intermediate up OSINT Industries pricing (checked 10 Oct 2026). Free tools leave note-taking to you. Max Intel's Evidence Logger covers part of that gap.
- Team use. Enterprise adds team seats, SSO and a shared credit pool OSINT Industries pricing (checked 10 Oct 2026).
- Training. Its site links to training services OSINT Industries homepage (checked 10 Oct 2026).
Credits that don't expire make it workable for occasional paid use. If you only need email-to-accounts checks, compare Predicta Search's paid tiers (from 7.99 € a month) Predicta Search pricing (checked 10 Oct 2026) and Intelbase (from $24.99 a month, billed annually) Intelbase pricing (checked 10 Oct 2026), and test each on a case where you already know the answer.
Is it legal to use OSINT Industries or its alternatives?
Searching public sources is generally lawful, but what you do with the results is regulated. Our Is OSINT legal? guide covers the main lines. Three of them matter most for email, phone and username lookups:
- Personal data rules. If you are in the EU or UK, or you research people there, GDPR applies to what you collect, store and share. See GDPR bites harder than the CFAA.
- No screening. Never use these tools, paid or free, to decide on someone's employment, tenancy, credit or insurance. In the US that is covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. See the FCRA section.
- Purpose. Check your own exposure, verify someone you are already dealing with, or carry out authorised investigations. Never use these lookups to stalk, harass or locate someone who doesn't want to be found.
OSINT Industries' own policy rules out "unlawful surveillance, targeting, or intelligence collection" and activity that undermines "human rights or the rule of law" OSINT Industries ethics and compliance (checked 10 Oct 2026). Hold free tools to the same standard. Holehe, for example, says it is "Built for educational purposes only" Holehe README (checked 10 Oct 2026).
